Leonard Walker

One of the “boxing Walker brothers from Gem, Idaho, Leonard was district champion and state champion as a senior and undefeated in 19 bouts at Wallace High School. In college, he was Pacific Coast Champion in 1949 and 1951 and NCAA Champion in 1949 and 1950. His record at the University of Idaho was 38-5 and was one of the best boxers in the nation during this time.

In High School he was also a participant in track and football and was known for his desire and his relentless drive to succeed. He was one nobody wanted to tangle with and his reputation was will known throughout the Inland Empire.

After being in the service he returned to the University of Idaho to complete his degree. His early death was untimely, but his legend as an athlete and boxer will never be forgotten.
