John Vesser

John Martin Vesser was an American football player, coach of football and basketball, and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach of Idaho State University from 1941 to 1951, compiling a record of 41-27-6.

John’s football career at Idaho as and End was from 1922-1925. He continued with the Los Angeles Wildcats in 1926. The Wildcats was a traveling team of the first American Football League that was not based in its normal city, but in Chicago Ill. He completed his football career with the Chicago Cardinals in 1931.

He then went on as Head coach of Lewiston HS from 1934-1936 and continued as Assistant coach of Idaho Southern Branch 1937-1940, finishing his Coaching career as Head coach at Idaho State 1941-1951.

John’s coaching career also included Head coach of the Idaho Bengals basketball team from 1944-1948.

His career completed as Athletic administrator from 1952-1965.

John was born in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho on October 1, 1900

He passed away on March 20, 1996 in Pocatello Idaho at the age of 95
