Jerry calls Moscow his hometown where he was a three-sport star in basketball, football and golf at Moscow High School. He started his college education at the University of Idaho where he was forced to abandon athletics because of a heart murmur.
After graduation with a degree in Business Administration he was employed at Buhl Jr./Sr High School as a coach/counselor. He then returned to college at WSU to complete a Masters of Science Degree in Counseling. While there he worked with Dr. Len Labine as color commentator for Moscow High football and basketball and U of I basketball games.
His career then took him to the College of Southern Idaho in 1966 where he served as assistant basketball coach to Eddie Sutton and then Jerry Hale. In 1972 he became a CSI Administrator with oversight on athletics. After serving as counselor, assistant coach, Director of Admissions and Records, Assistant to the President, Vice President he was named President of CST in 1983.
During his term as President the College of Southern Idaho has won 13 National Championships and three runners-up. In 2000 Jerry was elected to the CSI Hall of Fame.
Jerry has served as President of the National Vandal Boosters, honored as national Vandal Booster of the Year and has been President of the Community and Technical Division of Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges. He also has served on the Mountain States Association of Community Colleges, Idaho President s Council and many committees in education and community affairs.
One of the many highlights of his career was in 1998 when he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Administrative Sciences from the University of Idaho.
His family consists of his lovely wife Pauline, daughter Teresa, and sons Chris, Steve and Jason.
