Jerry Dellinger

One of the most outstanding coaches in Idaho Interscholastic history, Jerry coached 25 years in the high school ranks and then added four years at Idaho State University. His records along the way show what an outstanding coaching record he compiled.

315 wins and 122 losses in basket­ball, 193 wins, 54 losses and 11 ties in football, rates him as one of the top coaches in Idaho history. Jerry helped organize the Idaho State Coaches Association. He served on the board of the Idaho Inter-Scholastic Activities Association for 11 years. Jerry also directed the Idaho State Coaching Clinic for 18 years. His coaching career took him to Montpelier, Rupert, Nampa, and Jerome.

During these years Jerry has been honored as State Jaycee Award for outstanding citizen and community effort, Idaho State University Hall of Fame, and received the National Distinguished Service Award for high school athletics. This year Jerry was honored to be inducted into the Na­tional High School Sports Hall of Fame. The Dellinger family moved to Jerome from Kansas and Jerry spent his growing up years in Jerome where he was an outstanding high school athlete. Jerry and his wife, Lois, have three children; Lois, living in Puyallup, WA.; Marilyn, in New York, and Janie, in Boise.
