Frank Cammack was a top skier for the University of Idaho during his competitive days, from 1955-57.
Cammack helped the Vandals win three consecutive Northwest Intercollegiate Ski Championship team titles as at Nordic combined skier. In 1956, he helped lead the Vandal men to a fifth-place showing at the NCAA Championships and also qualified for the NCAA meet as a senior in 1957. Later in 1957, Cammack competed in the U.S. National Skiing Championships and won the gold medal in Nordic combined, which earned him a spot on the U.S. team at the World Championships in Finland. As a longtime member of the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation and the Pacific Northwest Ski Association after his U of I career, Cammack worked hard to teach and promote skiing among the youth of the Pacific Northwest. In 1970, he was honored with the PNSA’s Norrie Lamson Award for his work with the junior race program.
