Dick Mooney

Inducted
2004

Dick Mooney is known as a true supporter of the University of Idaho, as a student, athlete, and Vandal Booster. Mooney’s achievements at Idaho include being crowned Senior Athlete of the Year, Hec Edmundson Most Inspirational Football Player and the Terry Bissel Award winner.

In 1963, Mooney averaged 21.4 yards per kickoff return to lead the nation. He was a two-time all-Pacific Coast Conference selection and multi-sport athlete. While his statistics at running back, wide receiver, and kick returner are extremely impressive, he was arguably a better baseball player, known for his consistent play and incredible athleticism. He earned a silver medal in baseball at the 1963 Pan-Am Games. Despite all these accomplishments, Dick would say he is most of all a loyal Vandal through and through.
