Bobbi Hazeltine grew up in Craigmont, Idaho where she competed in basketball, volleyball and track for the Highland High School Huskies.
As a senior in 1977-78, Hazeltine was a key member of the girls’ basketball team that won the first of the school’s four state championships. Also that year, Bobbi helped orchestrate Highland’s upset of A-3 powerhouse Prairie of Cottonwood, breaking the Pirates 30 game winning streak.
Hazeltine played basketball for two seasons at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, helping the Cardinals turn their program into a winner.
Following graduation from the University of Idaho, Hazeltine coached volleyball and basketball at Troy High School in northern Idaho for more than a decade.
Her Trojan volleyball teams won four consecutive state A-4 championships, and she won five state A-4 basketball championships. In 12 years of competition, her basketball teams compiled a record of 253-59 (.811 winning percentage). In addition, she won 246 volleyball matches at Troy.
Hazeltine’s Troy teams were not always the most talented but were known for their dedication, discipline and desire. Oftentimes, Troy was not the favorite to win a tournament but came out on top anyway.
Bobbi became the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Walla Walla Community College in 19099, and the Warriors won the prestigious Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges championship in her second season. The tournament features the best 16 teams out of the 34 schools in the NWAACC that play basketball.
In eight seasons at WWCC, the Warriors have qualified for the NWAACC tournament seven times and have placed in the top seven each time, including the 1999-2000 title.
Entering the 2007-08 seasons, Hazeltine’s Warrior teams are 166-75 in her eight years at the helm.
A major influence in Hazeltine’s life was Dave Snodgrass, her coach at Highland. She became a coach because of him, and her teams have always reflected his commitment and dedication to the game of basketball.
Hazeltine and her husband, Rory, have a daughter, Allison (23) and a son, Nick (18).
